Sports Illustrated Fashionable 50 Logo Falls Short

This week, Sports Illustrated announced it’s second Fashionable 50 magazine spread. I like the creativity of Sports Illustrated. Growing up, it was a cover-to-cover read as soon as you grabbed it from your mailbox. The full-page pictures made great high school locker posters. Yes, I’m that old. That was then and now with the growth of online reading, SI needs to find creative ways to stay ahead of the curve. They are after all, the creators of the Swimsuit Edition.

There is some sweet athlete star power on this years list. Victor Cruz, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams, Henrik Lundqvist and more. Plus they will be doing a sweet VIP release event in Los Angeles right before the issue is released. Here are some video highlights of last year’s event.

With such big names, I was hoping for a better logo.

I love this concept but I was just hoping that logo would combine fashion and sports. This could be any fashion list for any company. With such big name brands, they could have featured silhouettes or shadows of various athletes. Or they could have blended pictures from last year’s issue and party. The colors are nice especially if you are a Miami Marlins fan. A little less bright but a similar toned down color scheme.

I look forward to checking out the issue. Fashion is all about creativity. I wish they had used a little more of that creativity for their logo.

A great way to be fashionable this summer is buy sporting our Awesome Sports Logos t-shirts. If you are a baseball fan, I promise you will get some laughs with our Middleton Fingers t-shirt.

Or our Boca Raton Cougars baseball t-shirt? Who doesn’t respect and love a Cougar?

We also have two great deals to save you some money. The first is our “Buy 3, get the 4th T-shirt free promotion”. Just use the coupon code, 3thenfree at checkout. The second promotion is our T-shirt of the Month Club. This is the kind of club you want to be a part of. No, not the kind of club that you have to wait for a bouncer to let you in. This club is all about savings. The more t-shirts you buy, the cheaper it gets. Plus we offer free shipping in the United States. Most T-shirt of the Month Clubs send you and everyone else the same shirt every month. It’s cheaper for them but what if you don’t like the t-shirt. You get to choose the t-shirts you want in our club and if you want to give it as a club, we will customize a gift certificate for you. It’s all about giving you complete satisfaction; otherwise we’ll take Awesome out of our name!

Thanks as always for reading and supporting us!

T-Shirts I Want For The Holidays

I’ve made my Holiday T-shirt Wish List and I’m ready for my 1st T-shirt of the Month Club to arrive in the mail. Okay, I’m the one that puts it in my own mailbox but it still counts.
So here are some Awesome Sports Logos t-shirts that I want under my tree this year.

The Arizona Pricks T-shirt
It was so popular in green that we've also added black as a new color and it’s awesome. Cactus can be quite prickly, and no part of the United States features more cactus than the beautiful state of Arizona and its most prominent city, Phoenix.   Phoenix also has a huge soccer (aka fútbol) following.  We’ve teamed the two together to form the Arizona Pricks Awesome Sports Logo.  Hard to believe that nature can be this funny, but there are actually cacti that look like man parts!  This awesome tee is great to wear when you want to tell that certain person in your life what you really think of them... Instead of letting it out, just point to this awesome t-shirt!  Where there are cacti, there are a lot of pricks. Wear this t-shirt with pride!

The Cocksville Blockers
Okay, we admit that this is the only made up city, but how could we resist? This city name and logo go hand in hand. We were going to use Cockeysville, Maryland but that is pronounced much differently. This angry rooster will stop at nothing to get in your way and block any of your moves. Of course we’re talking about football moves, what were you thinking of? This Cocksville Blockers funny t-shirt is our best seller and for good reason.

The Portland Tree Huggers

Multiple colors with this t-shirt but for the holiday season, I think I’ll choose the cream colored hockey t-shirt. Oregon is one of the greenest states we have. Portland is one of the more eclectic cities in America with a huge emphasis on the environment. Thus, the meanest hockey team in the northwest is born, the Portland Tree Huggers.

I wouldn’t want to skate against this tree and if I did, I hope that it has more bark than bite. This Portland sports logo t-shirt will draw some attention when you wear this super soft, cool t-shirt around town.

Caimanes de Rio Abajo
For my final t-shirt, I would like to dip into our Panamanian Basketball Collection. My favorite is the Caimanes de Rio Abajo. I love the look of a crock hanging on to the basketball. A Caiman is in the crocodile family and although none have ever been caught in Rio Abajo, the locals swear they have seen them in the rivers. I’ll take the advice of the locals and not go swimming but I’ll wear their t-shirt with pride.
Oh who am I kidding, I love all of our t-shirts. They all have their special place in my closet. Hopefully you’ll put some super soft t-shirts in your closet as well through our t-shirt of the month club. Or just buy one at a time but we must warn you…they are addicting.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Awesome Sports Logos

Shades of Grey the T-shirt Edition

Behind the door was temptation. So many options, so many thoughts running through their head. They both agreed to go for it, ripped open the door to see nothing but the softest grey t-shirts with the coolest designs.
C’mon, you didn’t think we were writing our own version of 50 Shades of Grey did you? We’re talking about our t-shirts and several of our sports logos look awesome in grey.  Just like the book and the movie, let’s get to the juicy part.
The Savannah Seamen
Savannah is one of this country’s largest seaports therefore lots and lots of Seamen can be seen in this coastal city. This baseball logo is sure to be an attention grabber when worn.
The Cocksville Blockers
Our most popular selling t-shirt. Cocksville is our only made up city but the name was too good not to use.
The Houston Gushers
Houston is all about the oil. We love this retro logo with a wooden derrick and a baseball gushing out of the top.
The Akron Rubbers
Akron is also known as the Rubber Capital of the World or Rubber City. A lot of tires are born in Akron and this sports logo embraces this huge industry in Ohio’s 5th largest city.
The Albuquerque Chupacabras
We don’t want to be the one to see a Chupacabra in person. We had a person email us to let us know that our design looked nothing like a Chupacabra. We were too nice to ask for advice on future sports logos of Big Foot, the Loch Ness monster and a Yeti. The bottom line is that our love for the name Chupacabra and Albuquerque is plenty to create this super soft t-shirt.
The Boca Raton Cougars
Cougars prowl at night in this Florida city. I love this silhouette baseball sports logo.
The California Crazy Eights and the California Ocho Locos
Another baseball logo, this time from the Golden State. The California coast is one of the few places in this country where you can find the Octopus. Get yourself some Crazy Eights!!
Colosos De Tumba Muerto

This was the original team in the Panamanian Basketball League. Tumba Muerto is a section of Panama City and this logo of a Giant is part of our Panamanian Basketball League collection.
The Lexington Studs
Who doesn’t want to wear a t-shirt that proclaims they're a stud? This super soft beauty is in honor of the great race tracks throughout Kentucky including historic Keeneland in Lexington.
The London Beefeaters
We head overseas to the great city of London where the Beefeaters protect the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London. Cricket is a popular sport in England except it’s a wood ball and they don’t use gloves to catch. Ouch!
The San Francisco Swallows
This is truly an awesome story.  The White Swallow was a clipper ship built in 1853 to transport cargo from New York and Boston to San Francisco. In 1865, mutiny on the ship would make the clipper ship famous. The crew claimed harsh working conditions when put on trial and were acquitted. The captain and his crew were found guilty. For many years after that, the name “White Swallow” was famous in northern California legal circles when the subject of harsh working conditions was brought up. Were you thinking the Swallows were named for something else?
So we don’t offer 50 shades of grey but we have 12 so we’re getting closer. If you like several of these t-shirts, you can always join our popular t-shirt of the month club. We discount the t-shirts and shipping is free. Now that’s super sexy!!
On a serious note, all of us at Awesome Sports Logos truly appreciate you. You guys are awesome for your support.

Creative Valentines Day Gift for Men

It’s so hard to find that perfect Valentine’s gift. I know as a guy I struggle with it each year. Ladies, that struggle is now over for you. Let us take care of the creativity with our T-shirt of the Month Club. This is an awesome club that offers big discounts, free shipping and once a month he’ll have a smile on his face as another closet favorite is delivered to his doorstep. He can even pick out the t-shirts. We’ll make a custom certificate with his name on it that you can present to him on Valentine’s Day and then he can email us his choices. Our club is flexible with the membership. We offer 3 months and go all the way up to a year’s worth of t-shirts. Each year, I pick out some of my favorite t-shirts that I would select if I received an Awesome Sports Logos T-shirt of the Month membership.
The Cocksville Blockers

It’s the best seller at Awesome Sports Logos and for good reason. This is our only made up town but the name Cocksville was too good to pass up. This Rooster looks like he’s up for a fight. Your special Valentine will definitely get some people chuckling when he wears this super soft cock blocker t-shirt

The Portland Tree Huggers

Love this funny hockey t-shirt. I can’t tell if this logo is mad because he’s ready to fight someone or if it’s because a relative of his was made into the stick he’s holding? Either way, I wouldn’t mess with this tree. Portland is one of the most unique cities in America and this t-shirt fits in perfect with the Portland lifestyle.

The Intercourse Witnesses

This t-shirt has terrific history. The movie Witness with Harrison Ford which was nominated for eight Academy Awards was filmed in Intercourse Pennsylvania. Intercourse is also home to the Amish. You put the two together and you have a terrific t-shirt to show off.

The Las Vegas Hookers Fishing Club

Ladies, if your guy enjoys fishing then we have the t-shirt for you. This is unlike any other fishing club and I guarantee laughs when this t-shirt is worn.
We have 42 t-shirts to choose from and if you don’t want to choose, we’re happy to help out and surprise him each month. Search no more for that perfect Valentine’s Day gift for a guy. NFL Logos are Simple and for Good Reason

The NFL gets away with a lot on and off the field. From controversial rule changes to a Commissioner who has seemingly lost almost all support publicly due to a lack of integrity, and marquee players in the center of shocking and cringe-worthy legal troubles, the "Shield" ticks forward because each weekend we're reminded of its amorous poison. On a different level way more South on the totem pole, the league gets away with some of the most simple logos among the major professional sports.

The Packers, Bears, Giants, and 49ers are primarily represented by letters--or just one letter. Kansas City's got an arrow around its letters and the Bengals at least have tiger-shading, while the Jets simply have an oval.

The Cowboys (star), Colts (horseshoe), Chargers (lightning bolt), and Saints (fleur-de-lis) are represented by an individual non-animal item and the Browns are represented orange helmet?

Sure, some of these teams have secondary logos with more pizazz while others have rich, complex history. Att the end of the day, the league is packed with logos we'd consider dull without the association to that team, and there are those we consider dull even still.

If you just showed me a star then I'd think: "and...?" but connect it with the Cowboys' history and it adds a sexy appeal. But at least the Cowboys make sense. A Cowboy and Texas go together and a single star in the Lone Star State works. But the Colts came from Baltimore and while I like the jerseys and, really, the logo, too, it's just so...boring.

Why do we not want more elaborate logos? I thought about it and came to one conclusion: helmets.

Numbers are so big on jerseys and end zones are mainly about letters which leaves helmets. And helmets are small, not welcoming to detailed and elaborate images. So we accept simplicity and move along because, well, it's football and that's how we respond to the most secure sport of those that we consume.

The NFL is king and the play on the field certainly outweighs logo creativity. You never have to worry about creativity lacking when it comes to Awesome Sports Logos. Over 40 funny sports t-shirts to choose from including our t-shirt of the month club where you get VIP treatment without having to overpay for a bottle of champagne at your table behind ropes. What you receive is a super soft closet favorite t-shirt each month at a discount price with free shipping. Now that’s awesome!

Does the MLB All Star Logo Get Our Vote

This year's MLB All-Star Game is at Minnesota's Target Field which is one of baseball's newest venues. The Metrodome's successor is beautiful and a terrific site to display baseball’s best. A beautiful site doesn't always inspire a beautiful logo for the All-Star Game, though. Where does this year's artwork stand?

For event-specific logos hosted by a city, my top priority is to gauge unique characteristics that represent the city and the venue. Most ASG logos feature the host team's emblem (just as this one does above the "All Star Game" lettering) so that's more of a requirement than a job well done. But the background and the coloring are what stand out to me.

I enjoy the skyline, outlined with detail but filled in with simplicity. The clouds and blue sky adds a nice touch, too. What's really neat is that it isn't just the skyline, but the skyline as it is seen from inside the ballpark. I love that these shapes are simple because it doesn't act as a distraction, like a mansion on a street of more modest sized houses, but it remains an important part of the whole, which is much greater than the sum of its parts like how the Spurs are with its players.

The MVP of this logo, though, is the coloring. The obvious choices are the blue and red of the Twins that color the stadium and the background of the lettering, respectively. But, the "star" of the logo is the sand-like coloring of the lettering and skyline. One of Target Field's most unique features is its use of limestone throughout much of the park. The limestone isn't just a part of the park's identity, but the state's identity, too, as the variety used for the structure comes from nearby Mankato. It is only fitting that one of the logo's most present colors is a part of the fabric of both the venue and the region.

The shape that is home the logo's messaging is another subtle key to what makes this logo unique. As you can see below, it is the same shape upon which 'TARGET FIELD' rests in front of the stadium's main entrance. Subtleties like this help separate a logo from the pack.

If we were to judge this logo on a scale of single to home run, I easily give this one a Harmon Killebrew 500-home run club seal of approval. While Target Field is ironically a pitcher's park, this logo is a no doubter with rich coloring and unique features that represent Minnesota, Minneapolis, and Target Field.

Speaking of All Stars, we have some awesome baseball t-shirts to choose from.

The Idaho Taters was the very first sports logo we produced and it’s still one of our favorites. Here's former MLB pitcher Mike Bacsik showing off his Taters awesome t-shirt

Savannah is the 4th largest seaport in America. Therefore there are plenty of Sea Men passing through. Makes sense right? The Savannah Seamen sports logo t-shirt.

Don’t mess with these power hitters. The Boca Raton Cougars are on the prowl, especially at night time establishments.
